The expanded virtual real world metaverse is a virtual space where people can experience various experiences such as daily life and economic activities by the avatars. MCST and KCISA will present various cultural contents through the metaverse platform in the future. As part of this the Culture Information Service Council will be held in the expanded virtual real world metaverse this year.
The event held in the expanded virtual world (Metaverse) for the first time in the cultural field began with a virtual performer playing a Korean traditional music performance on a large stage in a virtual space and watched by a virtual people (Avatars) who attended the event.
Last year the 2020 Culture Information Service Level Evaluation was held to award excellent institutions which evaluated the information service projects of the organizations of MCST and the National Museum of Korea and the Korea Copyright Commission were selected as the best institutions and won the Minister of Culture Sports and Tourism Award.
Lastly an avatar of Rsupport project leader Shin Dong-hyung gave a special lecture on Metaverse 2.0 and the best practices of culture information service level evaluation was presented by avatars of each institution.
Director Hong Hee-kyung of KCISA said It was meaningful that every participant can become a virtual person (avatar) and participate together in the event as the event was held in a expanded virtual world (metaverse). With the rapid change of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain metaverse will greatly contribute to expanding cultural leisure activities without restrictions on physical time and space. The Korea Culture and Information Service Agency will actively support people to enjoy new cultural experiences more conveniently as an institution specialized in cultural and digital transformation.
Meanwhile KCISA is recruiting the Korean Culture Experience Metaverse Contest until September 17 to discover metaverse contents that people create together in addition to the Extended Virtual World (Metaverse) award ceremony.
Details of the contest can be found on the official website of the Korean Culture Experience Metaverse Contest (https://www.culture.go.kr/metacontest).
