KIPO Hosts the 2024 Youth Invention Festival at Daejeon Convention Center from August 8-10
An exciting festival of invention and creativity is set to ignite the imagination and fun of young minds.
Hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) (Commissioner Kim Wan-ki) and organized by the Korea Invention Promotion Association (President Hwang Cheol-joo) the 2024 Youth Invention Festival will take place over three days from August 8 (Thursday) to August 10 (Saturday) at the Daejeon Convention Center (Yuseong-gu Daejeon).
The Youth Invention Festival is Korea’s largest youth invention event designed to uncover outstanding creative invention ideas and promote an invention culture among young people. This year the event will be held in collaboration with the city of Daejeon known as a hub of science and technology marking its first occurrence in the region.
The event will kick off with an opening ceremony at 11 AM on August 8 followed by the award ceremonies for the 37th Korea Student Invention Exhibition and the 26th National Teachers Invention Contest on the same day. The final competition and award ceremony of the Korea Student Creativity Championship will take place from August 8 to 10 and on August 10 respectively.
The 37th Korea Student Invention Exhibition received a total of 6256 entries with 160 awards to be presented.
The Presidential Award will go to Yoon Kyu-bin (13 Nakwon Middle School Grade 1) for the Manhole Cover with Water Pressure-Based Disengagement Prevention to prevent accidents during heavy rains.
The Prime Ministers Award will be presented to Hong Seung-ah (11 Hyodong Elementary School Grade 5) for the Squeezable Portable Rainwater Remover and Jung Tae-hyung (14 Munsan Middle School Grade 2) for the Earthquake-Ready Baby Crib Using Tensegrity Structure.
In the 26th National Teachers Invention Contest Lee Man-jae (38 Gyeongsan Dongbu Elementary School) will receive the Gold Award (Minister of Education Award) for the AI Robot for Walking Rehabilitation (You Can Walk).
The final competition of the 2024 Korea Student Creativity Championship where teams of students from elementary middle and high schools nationwide will showcase their creativity will take place during the event culminating in an award ceremony on August 10.
Throughout the three-day festival exhibitions of the winning works from the Korea Student Invention Exhibition and the National Teachers Invention Contest will be held. Additionally a variety of invention experience programs will be available for students parents and teachers including a Creativity and Invention Experience Zone a Daejeon Innovation Technology Exhibition and invention classes. These programs are designed to provide hands-on experiences and will be open from 10 AM to 5 PM with free admission for everyone.

Invention Experience Programs: Invention Bus Woodworking Machine Experience One-Day Invention Education Center Classes etc.
Commissioner Kim Wan-ki of KIPO stated “The Youth Invention Festival is a valuable opportunity for students to turn their brilliant ideas into inventions fostering problem-solving skills creativity and teamwork.” He added “KIPO will spare no effort in supporting the creation of an environment where students the future leaders of a dynamic economy brimming with intellectual property can realize their dreams through innovative ideas.”
