ETRI unveils state-of-the-art AI technology to catch crime

Intelligent crime risk prediction and response technology [Provided : ETRI]

The Korea Electronics and Communications Research Institute (ETRI) will participate in the AI Expo Korea 2021 which will be held in COEX Seoul for three days to show the latest AI-related research results to the public. ETRI announced that it will display AI-related technology which is the core technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution and actively promote technology transfer and commercialization.

The institutes major technologies are artificial intelligence facial recognition technology intelligent crime risk prediction technology and Police chatBot technology for responding to civil security complaints. The institute will also introduce promising artificial intelligence technologies and hold briefing sessions for technology transfer and commercialization.

First facial information recognition technology based on artificial intelligence is an AI technology that naturally recognizes human face information with cameras. It can provide advice on customized services and fashion according to users access control security search for criminals and identify infected persons which can be effectively used in pandemic situations such as Covid-19.

Intelligent crime risk prediction technology is a technology that recognizes criminal risk situations in the early stages and determines and responds to crime risks in real time. The technology which analyzes 112 report data in depth is expected to help police to quickly determine the type of crime early estimation of response code and optimize patrol routes based on the number of reports predicted. In addition it plans to analyze past investigation data and relationships with surrounding figures and provide major clues necessary for suspect inference.

Police chatBot technology for responding to civil security complaints is an interactive voice chatbot technology. Based on AI technology by recognizing the voice of telephone complaints in the security field and grasping the intent of the conversation Two-way voice dialogue which is utilizing security knowledge in each complaint scenario will be conducted. It is expected that a telephone counseling system which can focus more on complex civil complaint will be established so that artificial intelligence Police chatBot can respond quickly for a simple civil complaints without waiting. It can be used for telephone counseling interactive learning helpers conversation partners for the Silver generation and local tourist information services in the future.

In addition ETRI will also have time for consultation to discover promising AI technologies transfer technology and commercialization. Major technologies include mapping and location recognition technology for automatic driving in an atypical dynamic environment human behavior recognition technology based on deep learning in a variety of video conditions and driver monitoring and control change agent technology for securing safety and susceptibility of self-driving car.

ETRI‘s small and medium-sized business commercialization head quarter plans to explain in detail to companies that wish to transfer the technology through video clips.
