Tech+Art Convergence: 2nd G-Artience Connecting Day Held
Introduction of Oracle Bone Script and a Trot Song Performance Plans for an International G-Artience Meeting in Early December

G-Artience an organization that hopes to spread positive influence through the sharing of talent and knowledge held its 2nd Connecting Day on the 23rd at Edison Hall located on the 5th floor of WIP Square.
G-Artience continuously hosts roundtable meetings with scientists inventors cultural artists various experts and entrepreneurs aiming to foster a global TechArt that merges science and technology with cultural arts.
Around 80 people attended this gathering where Professor Park Chan-sung a Chinese character researcher from Korea National Open University introduced the characteristics of Chinese characters interpreted through Oracle Bone Script (甲骨文).
Professor Park explained Chinese characters were created by our ancestors and even China acknowledges that they were developed by the Dongyi people. He also noted The original character for person was the character 大 (meaning large). Through his presentation Park introduced several distinctive features of Chinese characters as understood from Oracle Bone Script.
Representing the cultural and arts field trot singer Ji Seon-young commented Through trot music one can express life and gain understanding of the older generation including parents in their 70s and beyond.
Ji Seon-young added When you sing trot it immediately evokes emotions like love longing separation hatred and waiting. She further expressed her respect for scientists saying I deeply admire the scientists who have worked hard to develop this countrys economy and allowed collaboration between science and the arts. Ji performed Kim Yang’s Ballad of the Wind and Lee Eun-ha’s You Are Still My Love during the event.
The Connecting Day also included a session where participants introduced themselves exchanged simple gifts they had brought and joined in a team-based singing competition with their tablemates.
Prior to the event Soo-woo Kim CEO of Mack&Whip stated during a meeting of the organizing committee We plan to further develop G-Artience which holds monthly meetings and to host the international G-Artience Connecting Week from December 1 to 3. We aim to expand this event into a representative convergence gathering of cultural arts and science technology for the nation.
Meanwhile Seung-rae Cho a member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Yuseong District A) sent a congratulatory message to the G-Artience Secretariat thanking the organizers for creating a meaningful platform for sharing talents and knowledge in science and art.
The 3rd G-Artience Connecting Day will be held on October 21.
