The Names of 300 Members of the National Assembly Go to the Hub Country of World Intellectual Property(IP)

Artist Lee Hwa-seon who is called as a Peaceful Fish expresses the voice of the heart with a brush. World Intellectual Property(IP) HUB Promotion Committee and WIP News promoted the Shift Korea World Intellectual Property (IP) Hub State in order to help Korea become independent in the field of intellectual property and she prepared a gift for them with a loving heart. Each name of 300 members of the 21st National Assembly has been wrote in the independently developed Hwaseon Calli font.

Lee Hwa-seon is currently serving as an Public Ambassador of Korean Red Cross and the Chairman of the Korean Letter Art Mentoring Association. She has participated in creating KBS PyeongChang Winter Olympic slogan We Now and Here and many other broadcasts title designs New Daejeon With the power of a citizen and she was invited as a cultural exchange writer from abroad such as Italy UK USA Japan China and etc. She has participated in a number of logo designs such as Department of Criminal Investigation on Patent.

What is Lee Hwa-seons philosophy?

The more I write the more proud of Hangeul. I am a Korean who writes Hangeul and I am a calligrapher who writes Hangeul. And she said I hope that it will be sincere letters which deliver everything I have in a polite way and the language which can save lives. In the following part there is her wish who is the chairman of the Korea Calligraphy Design Center and the representative of the Calligraphy Boot-Hyang.



Q1. What are the characteristics of your Hwaseon Calli?

▶Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon : Hwaseon Calli contains a Korean image and a line which makes text and picture become one. So a certain image felt in the sound of the story not just in the text is pictured and can be a pictograph and the lines of pictograph contain the power of a brush stroke. The calligraphy combines the parts of a certain wave of music the height felt in the sound and the wave that spreads and narrows aside which are contained in Hangeul.

Q2. What is your favorite and the proudest piece of work?

▶Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon : There are several works that I love. There are old and recent works and among them. I like Peace the most. There is always peace in Korean emotions. Koreans love peace. Peace is a work that puts peace in Hangeul. It is the representative work of Hwaseon Calli which expresses peace by putting a pictorial image in the ㅍ consonant of pyeong and the ㅘ vowel of hwa so that foreigners can feel peace when they see this letter.



Q3. What motivated you to write the names of 300 members of the National Assembly?

▶Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon : The 300 members of the National Assembly are the faces of Korea. I want to write the names of every citizen but I think the names of 300 members of the National Assembly represent each citizen. So I bless their names and tell what I want and their strength the power to love the people right? I am writing names in hopes that they will show their strength well in a system.


Q4. When you write names what do you feel?

▶Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon : When I write the names of them I feel that each one is so precious. The name is each persons brand isnt it? The Koreas brand is the public but there are names that will make them shine. The names represents the people. So writing names gave me more affection and with that kind of affection I think I also want them to work well more.


Q5. Do you have wishes for a member of the National Assembly who will receive this work?

▶Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon : My copyright was infringed twice while I was creating art works. I was very frustrated and at that time I thought that the system of law was still insufficient. While writing the names of 300 members of the National Assembly I felt like joining in the proposal of the people. As a person in the field of culture and art I hope them who represent the people to create a foundation of protection of intellectual property rights. So I am writing precious names with my sincerity in the hope that they make the foundation which can help Korea to stand out in the world with intellectual property rights and artists to create great works without losing their motivation.
