New Product Development and Research Activation for Veterinary Pharmaceuticals Discussed at the Veterinary Medicine Research Forum
Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency Hosts the 2024 Veterinary Medicine Research Forum Symposium
The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA Director Kim Jung-hee) held the 2024 Veterinary Medicine Research Forum Symposium on October 22 (Tuesday) at the International Conference Room of the International Seed Life Education Center in Gimcheon. The symposium focused on the theme New Product Development and Research Trends in Veterinary Pharmaceuticals.
Over 100 participants from the industry academia government and research institutions attended the symposium where various topics related to veterinary pharmaceutical research and development (R&D) and support programs were presented.
From the industry side presentations included Status of Global Veterinary Pharmaceutical New Registrations (Boehringer Ingelheim Korea) Vaccine Development Strategies Using Plant Expression Platforms (BioApp Co. Ltd.) and Trends in the Veterinary Pharmaceutical Market and Case Studies of New Drug Development for Companion Animals (Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.).
Additionally the Korea Institute of Planning and Evaluation for Technology in Food Agriculture and Forestry (IPET) presented on Support Programs for Veterinary Pharmaceutical Research and Development while the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency introduced Improvement Plans for the Veterinary Pharmaceutical Product Approval System.
Following the presentations a panel discussion was held on the theme Activating R&D in Veterinary Pharmaceuticals and Strengthening the Role of the Veterinary Medicine Research Forum. The discussion focused on exploring strategies for the development of the veterinary pharmaceutical industry and promoting mutual cooperation.
Lee Dong-sik Head of the Animal Disease Control Division at the APQA stated This symposium was designed to establish a system for developing high-value-added products contributing to the sustainable growth of the veterinary pharmaceutical industry. We plan to continue creating opportunities for experts across various fields to collaborate and work towards enhancing the global competitiveness of the veterinary pharmaceutical industry.
