2787 Outstanding Public Technologies Unearthed by 9 Ministries... Offering Technology Transfer Consultations
The Korean Intellectual Property Office (Commissioner: Kim Wan-ki) announced it will jointly hold the 2024 Interagency Public Technology Transfer and Commercialization Roadshow with the Ministry of Science and ICT Ministry of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs Ministry of Trade Industry and Energy Ministry of Health and Welfare Ministry of Environment Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Korea Forest Service. The event will take place on November 1 (Friday) at 1:50 PM at the EL Tower in Seocho-gu Seoul aimed at promoting the transfer and commercialization of outstanding public technologies to the private sector.

This event will showcase promising technologies identified by each ministry for potential commercialization and provide technology transfer consultations to companies seeking these innovations. This year the number of showcased technologies has seen a significant increase with 2787 outstanding public technologies on display.

Additionally to facilitate more effective consultations detailed information on the outstanding public technologies is available in advance on the National Science and Technology Knowledge Information Service website (www.ntis.go.kr/rndtema/). Interested companies can make prior applications for on-site consultations with public institutions holding these technologies.
Since its inception in 2013 as a joint event between the Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (formerly Small and Medium Business Administration) the roadshow has grown into a truly interagency public technology transfer event with this year’s addition of the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Forest Service bringing the total to nine participating ministries.
Six Institutions Including the Korea Basic Science Institute Selected as Intellectual Property Management Leaders
An award ceremony will also recognize institutions that have excelled in intellectual property management for their strong capabilities in creating and utilizing intellectual property. Universities and public institutions recognized as outstanding IP management institutions will receive intellectual property points that can be used for patent application and annual registration fees. This year six new institutions have been selected: the Korea Basic Science Institute the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology Kumoh National Institute of Technology Ewha Womans University and Hanyang University.
Commissioner Kim Wan-ki of the Korean Intellectual Property Office expressed We hope that the outstanding public technologies carefully selected by nine ministries will find their way to companies in need eventually emerging as excellent products and services. He added The Korean Intellectual Property Office will continue to strengthen inter-ministerial collaboration further invigorate the patent transaction market expand events like today’s gathering and support the broader application of high-quality university and public research technologies in private companies.
