Korea National Forest Seed and Variety Center Offers Customized Forest Education Programs
The Korea National Forest Seed and Variety Center (Director Lee Kyumyeong) announced plans to offer customized forest education programs for various age groups and a special autumn program at the Jeokbosan Seed Forest (Seed Orchard) until December 13.
As of the end of October 2024 a total of 3941 participants have taken part in the forest education programs including 2418 young children who visited the Suanbo Forest Experience Center for Kids established earlier this year to participate in forest exploration programs.
*The Suanbo Forest Experience Center for Kids offers customized forest education with 10 types of play facilities including a pond observation deck log balancing games and stepping-stone crossings.
Programs include “Collecting Fallen Leaves” for young children “Green Job! Find a Job at the Korea Forest Service” for middle school students “Slow Start” for underprivileged groups and “Childhood Memory Play” for adults. For those with limited mobility the center also operates the “Visiting Forest Interpretation” program which brings forest-based activities to welfare facilities and senior centers allowing participants to create crafts with natural materials either outdoors or indoors.
Groups wishing to participate can pre-register to schedule a time and place for a program conducted by a professional forest interpreter with all activities provided free of charge. The Director of the Korea National Forest Seed and Variety Center expressed hope that these programs will allow participants to recharge their bodies and minds adding that they will continue to work to provide safe and beneficial forest experiences for all ages through the remainder of the year.
