Korea Prepares for a New Leap Forward in the Era of AI and Digital Technology!
2025 ICT Industry Outlook Conference to Be Held
The Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Yoo Sang-im) will host the 2025 ICT Industry Outlook Conference from November 14 to 15 at the EL Tower in Seoul.
Now in its 24th year the conference is co-hosted by 12 specialized ICT institutions* with the theme The Digital and AI Era: Korea’s New Leap Forward. The event will delve into key domestic and international issues and prospects that South Korea faces.
*Institutions include IITP KEA ETRI KCA SPRi KETI KISDI KISA NIA TTA KAIT and RAPA.
On November 14 the conference will feature eight sessions across four main areas: ① Future Outlook ② Key Issues and Trends ③ 2025 ICT Forecast and ④ Special Session providing broad insights into the digital industry.
In the Future Outlook session Professor Jang Byung-tak head of Seoul National University’s AI Institute and a leading AI researcher will present on “The Future of AI-Driven Industries: Humanoid AI” discussing the importance of embodied AI and the potential for humanoid AI robots to replace human labor in the future.
Following that Dr. Cho Young-moo from LG Economic Research Institute will provide an analysis of “Domestic and Global Economic Trends and the 2025 Economic Forecast” covering economic conditions and outlooks for major countries including the U.S. China and Korea in light of the rapidly changing global environment.
In Key Issues and Trends Team Leader Yoo Seung-min from Samsung Securities will discuss “Geopolitical Impacts on Industries Post-U.S. Election” examining how recent U.S. election outcomes impact industries such as semiconductors automotive and energy and outlining strategic responses for South Korea.
Additionally Jeong-wook Kim CEO of DEEPX and an expert in semiconductor R&D will highlight the evolving AI semiconductor market as embedded devices become more central under the theme “Preparing for the Embedded AI Device Era.”
Professor Jae-boong Choi from Sungkyunkwan University will present on “Survival Strategies in the AI Era of Humanity” discussing Korea’s strategy and policy directions as the nation aims to become a top-three AI powerhouse.
In the 2025 ICT Forecast session IITP Director Lim Jin-guk will outline the Top 10 ICT Issues for 2025 covering topics such as AI AI semiconductors AI data quantum technology networks cybersecurity media humanoid robots AI scientists and safety and security.
Following this Director Lee Jae-young from KISDI will present “Environmental Changes and ICT Outlook in 2025” drawing policy insights from domestic and international economic forecasts ICT developments and sector-specific trends.
In the Special Session Director Park Joon-beom of IITP will present the “2025 Digital Talent Development Initiative” a strategic plan for cultivating the skilled digital workforce essential for Korea’s future.
On November 15 there will be 20 programs covering 10 themes analyzing the impact of key digital technologies on industries daily life and society. The discussions will explore the role of ICT in responding to these transformations and defining the future.
The morning sessions will focus on transformative digital technologies like generative AI (adoption and expansion) and robotics examining key issues and future directions. Afternoon discussions will cover industry trends and future preparedness in generative AI (reliability) next-generation communications AI semiconductors digital trade AI security wireless power transmission quantum technology and digital wireless infrastructure.

Song Sang-hoon Director of the ICT Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Science and ICT emphasized “The massive wave of change brought by AI and digital technology will not only reshape our lives but also create new opportunities in the digital industry” adding “We will support the development of a nationwide AI and digital ecosystem to propel Korea’s digital industry forward.”
