‘Solo Leveling: Arise’ Wins the 2024 Korea Game Awards
2024 Korea Game Awards Ceremony Held at BEXCO in Busan on November 13
The Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism (Minister Yoo In-chon) in collaboration with the Korea Association of Game Industry (Chairman Kang Shin-cheol) held the “2024 Korea Game Awards” ceremony at BEXCO in Busan on November 13 (Wed) to celebrate the achievements of domestic games that shone throughout the year.
‘Solo Leveling: Arise’ Transforms the Original Webtoon into a Remarkable Game Wins Grand Prize
The prestigious Grand Prize (Presidential Award) went to Solo Leveling: Arise which successfully brought the popular webtoon to life in game form. The Excellence Award (Prime Minister’s Award) was awarded to Stellar Blade while Lord Nine Trickcal Re
and First Descendant each received the Excellence Award in the Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism category.
Hanwha Life Esports received the “Esports Development Award” (Minister’s Commendation) for its sustained interest and active participation in esports. Former Chairman Kim Gyu-cheol of the Game Rating and Administration Committee was honored with the “Contribution Award” (Minister’s Commendation) for his three years of dedication to the gaming industry. In total awards were presented in 15 categories including the “Technical Creativity Award” “Startup Company Award” and “Award for Promoting a Positive Gaming Environment.”
Notably Solo Leveling: Arise which expanded the intellectual property (IP) of the popular webtoon Solo Leveling into a game received widespread acclaim and won the Grand Prize due to its popularity among players.
Yoon Yang-soo Director of the Content Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism stated “Thanks to the efforts of game developers Korea’s gaming industry has achieved remarkable success and is now pursuing new growth by combining with other content IPs.” He added “The Ministry will continue to actively support gaming companies reduce unnecessary regulations and establish a social foundation for the development of the gaming industry.”
