Russian Woman Wins ₩10 Million Prize at Korean IT-Art Forum
Ekaterina Ignatceva Achieves Top Score in Rigorous Expert Evaluation
From December 1 to 3 the “G-Artience 2024 Connecting Week” multimedia conference was held at the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) and WIPSQUARE in South Korea. The event aimed to promote innovative Tech Art through the fusion of science and cultural arts.
The name “G-Artience” symbolizes the combination of greatness art and science bringing together 300 participants including 100 scientists and engineers 100 cultural and artistic figures and 100 professionals from various fields to share ideas and insights.
Under the theme “Global TechArt Revolution: Fusion of Science and Art” the conference was co-hosted by the G-Artience 2024 Organizing Committee KAIST the Nam June Paik Art Center and the Daejeon Tourism Organization. It successfully attracted over 2000 scientists artists and industry professionals.
The opening session featured a violin performance by Professor In-Hong Cha from Wright State University followed by a keynote speech from KAIST Professor Emeritus Kwang-Ryun Won. The day concluded with discussions about the future vision of science culture and art.
Ekaterina Ignatceva Wins Top Prize
On December 2 Ekaterina Ignatceva from Russia claimed first place in the “NextGen 10 Talk” competition. This event highlights young artists in the field of media art.
Representing the Moscow-based video content production company “Sira Sveta” Ekaterina competed against 10 teams from five countries including Russia France Italy Taiwan and Japan. Each team had 10 minutes to present on topics related to art.
Ekaterina earned the highest score from a rigorous panel of judges and audience voting. The judging panel consisted of foreign journalists based in South Korea. Her victory awarded her a prize of ₩10 million.
Presentation on Human-AI Interaction
Ekaterina’s presentation titled “Interaction Between Humans and Artificial Intelligence” explored how AI can enhance human interactions. Her insights captivated both the judges and the audience.
Notably Ukrainian participant Serhiy Taran was unable to attend due to a flight delay and Ekaterina delivered his presentation as well showcasing her adaptability and expertise.
In her acceptance speech she expressed her surprise and gratitude: “I dreamed of winning but with so many talented teams from other countries I wasn’t sure. This is truly an amazing moment.”
Tech Art Show Draws Crowds
The event also featured a “Tech Art Show” which drew significant attention with its real-time visualization technologies powered by artificial intelligence.
A New Era for Art and Science
Professor Myung-Seok Kim KAIST Emeritus Professor and Chair of the G-Artience Organizing Committee reflected on the event’s success:
“This event signals the beginning of a new era where art integrates performance experimentation and lectures. Through the fusion of science culture and art we are creating new intellectual property and establishing the foundation for a global TechArt hub.”
