On December 2 2024 at the Daejeon Convention Center during G-Artians Connecting Week baritone Jo Byung-ju delivered an inspiring performance by singing the national anthem followed by his original composition “Gift” leaving the audience deeply moved. Known for his diverse performance experience and uniquely captivating vocal style—and nicknamed “Musha (Warrior)” for his kendo skills—Jo Byung-ju found this performance held on a stage surrounded by over 700 people to be especially significant.

When asked about the meaning of G-Artians he stated

“A collaboration that fuses art and science is exactly the crucial direction our society must take today. This event is a meaningful contribution to establishing Daejeon as a city of science and art.”

Jo Byung-ju began the performance with an a cappella rendition of the national anthem delivering a profound emotional impact. He then presented his original song “Gift” sharing a warm and heartfelt message with the audience. Reflecting on the performance he remarked

“I sang the national anthem in the traditional style with the voice to which I have dedicated my vocal career and the original composition held even deeper meaning as it was prepared specifically for today’s event.”

Addressing the fusion of science and art he observed

“Since ancient times the tools of artistic creation were the cutting-edge technologies of their era. Bringing modern technology together with art to create something new is an essential challenge for the future.”
He added that his own composition was imbued with his desire to see science and art work hand in hand.

Discussing how science and technology can support the arts Jo Byung-ju noted

“Just as smartphones allow us to access art anytime and anywhere technology brings art closer into our daily lives. True fusion can only be achieved when science and technology are intertwined with human emotion.”

On the future growth of G-Artians as a global platform he commented

“Even scientists’ presentations should be regarded as a form of performance—it’s important that presentations and performances strike a balance and move the audience. I hope that events like these will continue consistently so that Daejeon can firmly establish itself as a city where science and art coexist.”

The “sword-wielding vocalist” Jo Byung-ju expressed his kinship with the promising new future that the fusion of science and art will create and he wholeheartedly supported the successful journey of G-Artians.
