On February 24th of 2021 (CNIPA) had unveiled the accomplishments of 470.5 billion yuan in patent mortgage loans during the 13th five-year scheme period.

Main Contents

During the 13th five-year scheme period the number of patent applications as patent transfers grant licenses for patent and patent collaterals in China was 1.386 million which was 2.5 times higher than the records of 12th five-year scheme period (hereinafter referred to as 12·5). It has accomplished 470.5 billion yuan that is 3.1 times higher than the 12·5 period and the main reasons are as followed.

1 A strategic growing industry with patent of invention

01 The patent applications of a strategic growing industry and patent of invention are highly increased as qualities and efficiencies are enhanced.

02 The numbers of applications for patent of inventions are recorded as 785000 during the 13·5 period that was an increase of 511000 cases comparing to the 12·5 period as reporting for 56.7% of the total patent applications.

03 Particularly the numbers of applications for patent of inventions are recorded as 59.9% in 2020 which was the highest record in the history.

04 For the strategic growing industry the numbers of applications for patents are recorded as 305000 during the 13·5 period that was an increase of 161000 cases comparing to the 12·5 period.

2 Enterprises higher educational institutions laboratories and Midwestern regions

01 The patent applications of enterprises higher educational institutions laboratories and Midwestern regions are rapidly growing and capabilities of marketization regional patents and main topics at a faster speed as well.

02 The rates for transferees licensees and collateral setters of corporate patent recorded as 93.3% in 2020 that was an increase of 2.1% comparing to the end of the 12·5 period.

03 The patents transferred and grant licensed by higher educational institutions and laboratories during the 13·5 period are recorded as 76000 which is counted 2.5 times higher than the 12·5 period.

04 When accumulating the patent applications of Central and Western regions the total would be 300000 that is counted 3.2 times higher than the 12·5 period. The annual average has been increased by 33.6% beyond the national average growth rate of 10% recorded during the 13·5 period.

3 Central cities of building an application service system for the Intellectual Property

01 There are 37 Central cities for the establishments of IP application service system have great ripple effects on the national patent application businesses.

02 The innovations leaders of given 37 central cities have applicated 407000 patents and received 168.09 billion yuan in patent mortgage loans.

03 For 2020 the patent applications for 37 Central cities are recorded as 188000 with the patent mortgage loans as 80.89 billion yuan. Each nation is recorded as 46.4% and 51.9%.

04 The number of patent applications have increased 39.5% as comparing to the previous year that is 7.5% higher than the national average and the amount of patent mortgage loans increased 54.3% as comparing to the previous year which could play a leading role with exceeding the national average by 13.3%.
