Patent Law a System that Protects Individuals Must Be Well Established: The Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon

The representative of Calligraphy Boot-Hyang the blog which has more than 2000 subscribers and chairman of Korea Calligraphy Design Center Lee Hwa-seon visited to WIP News on the last 20th to congratulate the first publication of WIP News.

Q1. Please introduce of yourself.

▶Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon : I was born in Korea and used Hangeul. Thanks to the beauty of Hangeul I am a text designer and a calligrapher. A new type of font design called Hwasun Calli. I am a letter art designer who wants to make international and Korean Hangeul design into a brand that text and drawings become one and to make this part as a beautiful aesthetic and promote to the world.

Q2. How many countries and how many people should subscribe to WIP News in order for it to be named “World Intellectual Property News”?

▶ Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon : 10 million people and at least 30 countries at least it seems it will live up to its name.

Q3. Is there any intellectual property that you know would be profitable?

▶ Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon: In my opinion it will be the use of the most basic tools related to peoples survival such as eating sleeping and treating when sick. And IPs related information and communication. Survival in today is connected to the information.

Q4. Do you have any intellectual property such as copyrights or patents that you own or do you have anyone who would like to introduce us in relation to it?

▶ Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon : Because I am related to the arts and culture I have copyrights and design rights for text. Several of my works have been branded and copyrighted. And I would like to introduce CEO of Cairen Baek Jung-tae. As far as I know he has developed a portable respirator and continues to research and develop things that can help individuals or people around him in a very urgent situation.

Q5. Dose Korea need more efforts or changes to become an intellectual property powerhouse?

▶ Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon :I think its a field. In order to bring out ideas protect them and develop them they have to be put in a safe zone to provide a basis for further research. It is also important to encourage public opinion and cultural awareness of people. If the patent law and a system that allows individuals to be protected are well established then individuals motivation will be inspired then individuals will not lose energy and give up. I hope that fields of intellectual property will be cultivated well.

Q6. If you express intellectual property in one word Intellectual property to me is OO.

▶ Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon : For me intellectual property is rice. We approach culture and arts and copyright with the idea of ​​finding it in a natural place not in a systematic place and organize it. As a result it is always close as like eating but it seems to be thrown away but it is the most precious and basic one. The rice and the strength from rice which are the fundamentals of Korean and basic energy of all ideas and things that are developed and studied. For me it will be rice that I will continue to eat and I will never get tired of eating it.

Q7. Do you have any wishes or comments on WIP News?

▶ Calligrapher Lee Hwa-seon : I support WIP News. Its very nice news. I am so proud of WIP　News which strengthen the basis. Its reference point is based on the world not any organizations or systems. I hope it will become a little lubricant and a driving force so that people can come up with more ideas and become the basis for the precious work. Realistically I hope that WIP News will become the driving force so that my life would be changed. So I hope that WIP News will make exertions and put a certain reference point in the world rather than in Korea so that Korea can be seen from above.
