The Ministry of Science and ICT and National IT Industry Promotion Agency Industry (NIPA) announced on the 17th that they held a research and development report on the 5G Mobile Communication (5G)-based AI Emergency Medical Service (Intelligent Emergency Medical Service) project involving seven medical institutions including KT and Kakao Mobility.


This performance report session demonstrated the use of intelligent services by paramedics and medical staff from the occurrence of patients to the optimal hospital transfer and relayed them to participants assuming actual emergencies so that they can actually feel intelligent emergency medical services.
The 119 ambulance which was displayed outside the venue introduced emergency patient data collection devices installed inside the ambulance and checked the results of the emergency patient data measurement and analysis.
This project has been planned for the government to invest 18 billion won for three years from 2019 to 2021 to develop core technologies for two years and to distribute and spread them to two regions next year. The Ministry of Science and ICT the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Fire Agency are working together to prepare a quick and consistent management system from the occurrence of emergency patients to treatment.
The government expects that the project will help increase the survival rate of emergency patients by securing timely treatment time (golden time) through customized first aid and rapid transfer of emergency patients (cardiovascular cerebrovascular severe trauma and cardiac arrest).
The system consists of in-car equipment and emergency data integration and analysis platform that can collect various information (voice video and biometric signals) of emergency patients in real time and send them to integrated platforms through 5G network.
Intelligent emergency medical services analyze emergency data sent to the integrated platform to provide standard first aid measures to paramedics in ambulances support the preparation of first aid logs and provide optimal transportation hospital routes to emergency room specialists.
