Leonardo da Vinci Michelangelo and Raphaelo are considered as the three greatest Renaissance masters. Compared to Leonardo and Michelangelo Raphaelo who began his career about 30 years later is recognized as the height of Renaissance and todays pictures for peoples ‘Raphaelo’ who lost his mother early and expressed maternal affection through the painting of St. Mary is going to be introduced.

Rafaelo was born in the Duchy of Urbino Marque Italy. Urbino at the end of his name means a person of origin. Rafaelo grew up with a lot of love from his parents but lost his mother when he was eight years old and grew up under the care of his father a court painter ‘Santi Giovanni’. Raphaelo was studying art under his father who passed away in 1494 and lived in a small fathers house.

Raphaelo who lost his mother and father at such an early age grew up right with the help of his family. Unlike Renaissance artists Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo who were mystical and solitary Rafaelo was well known for his gentle and sociable personality.

Raphaelo became independent from his uncle in 1499 at the age of 16 and moved to Perugia and started his career as a disciple of painter Pietro Banunch. He showed rapid growth and learned the structure and technique from his teacher almost perfectly. In particular he painted many representative works related to the Virgin Mary in Perugia including ‘Oddi Altarpiece’ in 1502 ‘Spozalizio’ in 1504 and ‘Madonna and Child’ in 1505.

For Raphaelo who lost her mother at such a young age the Virgin Mary is the subject of painting to fill her absence. In fact in Italys oldest cultural magazine ‘LA CIVILTAR̀ CATTOLICA’ Father Giancarlo Pani picked Rafaelos greatest achievements in his life as ‘An important figure in the Renaissance period who gave rich art to human life’ and ‘A dedication of various sacred paintings related to the Virgin Mary’.

He sublimated his family history into religious praise for the Virgin Mary. A mothers love for her children is not just a limited subject for religion. His paintings of the Virgin Mary as well as in the field of religion left a consideration for the maternal affection of human race. Especially it has recently been evaluated that it gives great teaching to modern society where child abuse and infanticide are rampant.

The paintings related to the Virgin Mary were constantly created when he moved to Firenze and worked in Rome until his death. ‘Maternal affection’ is seen as a subject in his entire life for him. He is recognized that he made the origin of ‘Elegant beauty (Grazia)’ that has been considered as a textbook in western art history this peaked in ‘Scuola di Atene’ that he drew in Rome.

It is a fresco mural drawn in pope’s study among various rooms in The Vatican Palace he drew this work from 1509 to 1510 as an order of Pope Julius II. The greatest philosophers such as Aristotle Socrates and Plato were gathered but it is impossible. He combined the greatest philosophers he thinks and drew them as Avengers.

It is excellent imaginary setting but also considered as a painting that expresses well each of figure’s characteristics. The philosophers’ characteristic of gestures facial expression and dresses are standing out. The representative drawing is Plato pointing at sky and Aristotle pointing ground. He expressed academical difference to action.

The opposite schools getting around and discussing looks like blended. The experts evaluated that it expresses his traits very well. His tendency to be friendly harmonious and confident is well explained through reconciliation between religion and philosophy reconciliation among Catholic Christian and nation and painting Leonardo and Michelangelo on the faces of several philosophers.

Raffaello not as much as like Leonardo was capable of various things. He also built statues and drew murals not only painting and contributed a lot in diplomacy. He emphasized love among families and communication among people. The reason he could see the world positively even he lost his parents early in his age is because his family’s devotion that filled his insufficiency.

Human race is keep on isolating themselves from each other. As developing politically economically and socially the gap among people is growing and ‘Difference’ becomes ‘Wrong’. Maternal affection love for humanity communication and concord that he emphasized have to be recalled to solve various social issues and make a better society where everyone lives well.
