Holding the 2nd Public Design Public Idea Contest Accepting from September 6th

We can often encounter public design in our daily lives such as the Seopul Wondumak a large green umbrella that provides shade for a while on midsummer crosswalks and the Yellow carpet to prevent traffic accidents in front of schools.
These public designs are not tasks only belongs to Public institutions. As it is can be seen in the contest held by the Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism anyone can be the main body of public design because everyone discovers ideas as a citizen and seek inconveniences in ones daily life.
The Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism (Minister Hwang Hee hereinafter the MCST) holds the 2nd Public Design Public Idea Contest with the Korea Craft and Design Foundation (President Kim Tae-hoon hereinafter KCDF).
In the first contest people of various ages ranging from middle and high school students to the elderly submitted 430 various ideas showing high interest.
The theme of this years contest is Safe daily life public design to prepare for the future. In particular ideas are divided into two areas ▲ safety design for all and ▲ eco-friendly design for the future in order to emphasize public design that can be experienced in daily life based on the Comprehensive Plan for Public Design Promotion and to expand the role and value of public design based on the theme of natural environment.
Anyone interested in public design can apply ones ideas through Public Design Comprehensive Information System (www.publicdesign.kr) from September 6th (Mon) to 10th (Fri).
The MCST and KCDF plan to select 12 points through an in-depth evaluation consisting of three stages and award a total of 2450 won for prize money. In addition they will draw the final design of the ideas selected together with public design experts and produce pilot application guidelines and distribute them to local governments nationwide.
A policy official at the Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism said We hope the contest will serve as an opportunity to promote the safety of peoples lives through public design and expand the meaning and role of public design based on the value of being eco-friendly.
