The Intellectual Property Acedemic Credit Bank System Allows Students to Take the Bachelor’s Degree of Intellectual Property Free of Charge

The International Intellectual Property Training Institute of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (Commissioner Kim Yong-rae) recruits students of online Academic Credit Bank System of Intellectual Property Studies for the second semester of 2021 from August 17th (Tue).

* Academic Credit Banking System: A system that gives academic credits and degrees to education and training institutions recognized by the Ministry of Education. The International Intellectual Property Training Institute has established and operated Intellectual Property Studies major since 2015.

Intellectual Property Studies is a study that you can systematically study the right to protect ideas and skills. It is a knowledge that you must know in order to secure competitiveness in a rapidly changing market. Anyone who has graduated from high school or has an equivalent academic background can take the course free of charge. If you complete certain credits through this course you can obtain an Bachelors degree of Intellectual Property in the name of the Minister of Education and 225 intellectual property bachelors have been produced from 2016 to the present.

Recently as interest in the non-contact academic credit banking system has increased the intellectual property academic course has also been operated with expanded* capacity and courses.

 * 9000 students (2020) 17 courses (9 in the first semester 8 in the second semester) → 10000 students (2021) 19 courses (10 in the first semester 9 in the second semester)

In particular if the student take the Intellectual Property Proficiency Test (IPAT)* from this year the student will be able to receive up to 25 credits depending on their scores (grades from 1 to 4) making it easier to obtain the degree. * Intellectual Property Proficiency Test (IPAT): The practical competency verification test of intellectual property rated in seven stages according to the score (out of 990 points) and grades from 1 to 4 are recognized as government certified qualification.

Within the scope of the online system and budget the number of students is fixed for each courses so it is necessary to apply for classes quickly within the deadline. This semester a total of nine courses including Introduction to Intellectual Property will be operated and a student can take up to seven courses.

* Courses operated in the 2nd semester 2021: Introduction to Intellectual Property Trademark Act Copyright Act R&D and Intellectual Property Intellectual Property Management Theory Internet and Intellectual Property Act Patent Information Research and Analysis Understanding of Technology Transfer and Licensing Unfair Competition Prevention and Trade Secrets Protection Act

ㅇ Training Fee: Free (However 4400 won is required for Universal Official Certificate the trainee should issue the certificate by oneself)

* The recruitment of trainees may be closed early due to the free operation of the curriculum

ㅇ Operating Courses (Student can take up to 7 courses per semester/up to 14 courses per year the next semester is not available if not completed)

- Four-year college graduates: 48 credits of intellectual property major

- High school graduates: 140 credits (60 credits for intellectual property majors 30 credits for liberal arts 50 credits for general selection)
