The Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism (MCST President: Hwang Hee) and Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE President: Chung Kil-hwa) will open cooperate creations made intactly of Korea-Russia Young Arts Project which is consisted of Korean and Russian university students on their official Youtube channel (www.youtube.com/korrusculture).

Korea-Russia Young Arts Project is a project that is a part of 2020-2021 Korea and Russia Year of Cultural Exchanges supporting creation and cooperation of next generation artists of both countries. MCST aims discover art pieces under younger perspectives and do some groundwork for long-term communication with Russia a rising cultural country.

Russian culture is well known for its literature of Tolstoy Turgenev and Chekhov who greatly influenced the theaters Music of Tchaikovsky Rachmaninov and Stravinsky and the Bolshoi Ballet.

Korea-Russia Young Arts Project composed of 14 Koreans and 26 Russians has teams of music play and dance. They created art by cooperating untactly by receiving mentors and having online conference.

The music team played Concerto for 3 Harpsichords in D minor BWV 1063 untact. The dance team composed a new dance music Immortal Flowers conveying message of light and hope under COVID-19. The dance team created choreography fitting the music and expressed agony and fear. The play team played the ‘daily contrabanda club’ under the subject of ‘meeting and communication’. The art pieces are accessible on the official Youtube channel.

MCST and KOFICE will aggregate the likes of both countries conduct a survey and collect peer and expert feedback from 9th to 18th of August to choose one excellent work. 23rd of August the nominated team will receive the Minister prize and will have chance to participate The ‘Saint Petersburg International Culture Forum’ this September though it may change depending on the COVID-19 situation.

The forum is aiming expansion of Korean culture brand improvement of impressions of both countries enhancing cultural network cooperation in film and play production cultural exchange program of teenagers etc.

Lee Jin-shik Director General of Culutre of MCST said that great artworks were made under the COVID-19 situation and he wishes that the cultural exchange could be more active after the project.
