As Hanwha General Chemical took global gas turbine service company over they possess ‘Hydrogen dual fuel’ power generation technology for the first time in Korea. Hydrogen dual fuel technology is a power generation method that burns hydrogen and natural gas at the same time and it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions dramatically.
Hanwha General Chemical announced on the 22nd that they signed a contract taking over 100% of shares from American PSM (Power Systems Mfg. LLC) and Dutch ATH (Ansaldo Thomassen B.V.) that possess hydrogen dual fuel technology on the 19th. Both companies are subsidiary companies of global gas turbine company Ansaldo Energia and have the best gas turbine life performance improvement and hydrogen dual fuel remodeling technology in the world. Hanwha is planning to complete the undertaking work by this June after going through judgement from CFIUS (Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States). Domestic development of hydrogen dual fuel power generation technology has been tried but it has not come to the final stage where the industries use it. However PSM and ATH that Hanwha took over this time have already commercialized hydrogen dual fuel power generation technology in America and Europe.
Heung-gwon Park the CEO of Hanwha General Chemical said “We secured not only gas turbine technology that we have been relying on imports but also hydrogen dual fuel technology that dramatically reduces carbon and nitrogen oxide generation amount.”
