Jung Yoon-young Developer of Filterless Air Purification Technology Named Female Inventor of the Year!

The 2024 Women Inventors Expo (World Women Inventors Contest and Women’s Invention Fair) hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and organized by the Korea Women Inventors Association concluded its three-day event with an awards ceremony on June 22nd (Saturday).

This years Women Inventors Expo a celebration of passionate and innovative female inventors from around the world showcased over 400 inventions from 20 countries. Each entry was judged on-site for the awards.

Jung Yoon-young was awarded the Grand Prize at the 17th World Women Inventors Contest for her filterless air purification technology.

Jung invented an air purifier that uses centrifugal force to supply water and spray it in fine droplets to purify the air. This invention not only purifies the air but also captures carbon making it applicable in homes densely populated areas and industrial sites.

The Semi-Grand Prize winners included:

Lee Hae-yeon of HL Science Co. Ltd. for a composition containing Ashwagandha extract and Chrysanthemum extract for the prevention improvement or treatment of obesity.
Jung Yeon-hee of JKI Inc. for an automatic customized cosmetic manufacturing system.
Kinga ZELECHOWSKA-MATYSIAK from Poland for an isotope-labeled trastuzumab-emtansine conjugate its manufacturing method and its use in cancer treatment.
Phan Thi Lan from Vietnam for a sulfide detection sensor and its manufacturing method.
Xiomara Mireya GASPAR HUANCA from Peru for a method to control microorganisms and weight loss in avocados using biopolymers and essential oils.
Mok Seong-ho Director of the Industrial Property Policy Bureau at KIPO stated Womens inventions are bringing innovation to everyday life worldwide. KIPO will continue to support female inventors in turning their ideas into products just as we have been doing.
